The Carmo Church is a historical building in Lisbon, Portugal. The mediaeval convent was ruined in the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake, and the ruins of its Gothic church  are the main trace of the great earthquake still visible in the city. Nowadays the ruined Carmo Church is used as an archaeological museum.

Statue of poet António Ribeiro, the Chiado, in the Chiado Square. It was a humorous and satirical poet of the sixteenth century.

Ceramic tiles are part of the facade decoration of many houses in Lisbon. This tradition goes back to the culture of Moorish occupiers, polished in the Middle Ages of Andalusia from the Iberian Peninsula with stones (in Arabic "al zulaij" - Portuguese "azulejos") supplied. From 15./.16. Century the tiles came  from Spain and Portugal Mallorca ("majolica") and Holland's Delft.

Construction of the Golden Temple began in 1574 on land donated by the Mughal emperor Akbar. The building project was overseen by the fourth and fifth Sikh Gurus. The temple was completed in 1601, but restoration and embellishment continued over the years. The temple had to be substantially rebuilt after it was sacked in the 1760s.

In the early 19th century, 100 kg of gold were applied to the inverted lotus-shaped dome and decorative marble was added. All this gold and marble work took place under the patronage of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The legendary warrior king was a major donor of money and materials for the shrine and is remembered with much affection by the Sikh community and Punjabi people.

Most Married Woman World Record set by Linda Wolfe

American grandmother Linda Wolfe has become "the most married woman in the world" after walking down the aisle 23 times, and is now "on the lookout for number 24".Mrs Wolfe, 68, is included in the Guinness Book of World Records for the dubious honour of being wed more times than anyone else alive.She has said that she is "addicted to the romance" of getting married.

Born Linda Lou Taylor, the American first married in 1957 aged 16, to a 31-year-old called George Scott.

The union lasted for seven years, the longest and happiest of any of her marriages.Since then things have tended to go downhill.Over the subsequent decades she married a one-eyed convict, a preacher, barmen, plumbers and musicians.Two turned out to be homosexual, two were homeless and one beat her. Another put a padlock on her fridge.

One marriage lasted just 36 hours because "the love wasn't there". But Linda, from Indiana, once married the same man, Jack Gourley, three times.She has had seven children by her different husbands and been a stepmother to many more.

Her last marriage, a decade ago, was a publicity stunt. It was to Glynn Wolfe, who in taking Linda as his bride meant he was the world's most married man, at 29 times. He died a year later aged 88.

Consequently she said that she was "on the lookout for number 24". She told The Sun: "It's been years since I walked down the aisle. I miss it."

The serial bride, who now lives in a retirement home, said she had never cheated on a husband. She said if she had her life over again she would "never, ever" marry so many men.

1) Yao Defen claims to be the tallest woman in the world, with 7' 8" (233 cm). She weighs 200 kg (440 lbs) and has size 26 (UK) / 78 (EU) feet. Her gigantism is due to a tumor in her pituitary gland.

2) Sandy Allen appeared in the Guinness Book of World Records since 1976 --and until 2008, when she died-- as the tallest woman in the world.. She was 7' 7¼ " (232 cm) in height.

3) Malgorzata (aka Margo) Dydek, a basketball player in the US, is 7'2" (218 cm).

4) Zainab Bibi, 7' 2" (218 cm) as well, was recently allowed to stay permanently in Britain because she claims her height 

has made her a target at home, Pakistan.

5) Standing at 7'0" (213 cm), latvian Uljana Semjonova was the leading women's basketball player in the world in the 1970s and 1980s.

6) Gitika Srivastava, former basketball player from India, is 6' 11" (211 cm).

7) Malee Duangdee is Thailand's tallest woman, with 6' 10" (208cm).

8) Germany's tallest girl, Caroline Welz is 20 years old and 6' 9" (206 cm) tall.

9) Rita Miniva Besa is 6' 8" (203 cm)

10) Heather Greene is "only" 6' 5½" (196 cm) and lives in Las Vega

Jyoti amge was recognized as the world's shortest woman by Guinness World Records on Friday as she turned 18 and said she hopes to earn a degree and make it in Bollywood. Jyoti Amge stood just 62.8 centimetres (24.7 inches) tall shorter than the average 2-year-old.
